Wanda Louise Hott, 68, of Kirby, WV passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born on January 12, 1956 in Romney, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lester F.. Funk and Ethel R. (Hott) Funk.

Wanda was a graduate of Hampshire High, Class of 1974.  She retired after 28 years of driving a school bus for Hampshire county schools. Wanda had a love for life and learning new things.  There was nothing she couldn't do, from taxidermy, farming, hunting, gardening, making baskets to growing grapes. Her skill in broom making led to her business, WV Broom Barn, where her creative talents were put to use hand making brooms that were sold all over the country.  Wanda faithfully attended Kirby Assembly of God Church and served as librarian. She was a former Girl Scout leader and an active volunteer at Grassy Lick Community Center.  She could often be found stirring a big pot of chili over an open fire or a kettle of apple butter.  Above all, Wanda was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.  She loved spending time with her family and sharing every moment she could with them.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Steve Hott, her daughters, Susan Bateman (Dave), Crystal Rexrode (Dan), 4 grandchildren, Shelby Westfall, Kierra Westfall, Chase Rexrode, and Brenna Rexrode, all of Kirby, WV and her siblings, Roy Funk of Romney, WV, Eugene Funk of Augusta, WV, Robert Funk of Buchanan, WV, Dorothy High of Slanesville, WV, Catherine Ludwig of Baker, WV, and Frances Davis of Kirby, WV.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Helen Timbrook, Anna Combs, Ersel Funk and Shirley Veach.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Kirby Assembly of God Church, Kirby, WV with Pastor Jed Metzler officiating.  Interment will be in Hott's Chapel Cemetery, Kirby, WV.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21, at the church from 6-9pm.
