Velvena "Veaner" Retha Simmons, 78, of Delray, WV passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Hampshire Center, Romney, WV.

Born on February 26, 1945 in Augusta, WV, she was the daughter of the late Owen Jackson Simmons and Grace Mae Koontz.

Veaner had worked at the sewing factory in Romney, WV and Phoenix Mecano, Romney.  She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.  She will be remembered for her cheerful spirit and always having a smile on her face.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her significant other, Chester Timbrook, sons, Dennis Timbrook and Gavin Timbrook, a brother, Jack Simmons and a grandson, John Jay Staub.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Staub (Rusty) of Delray, WV, son, Steve Timbrook of Winchester, VA, her siblings, Charlotte Davis of Romney, WV, Maxine Halfhill, Roger Simmons, both of Freemont, OH, and 5 grandchildren, Shawn Staub, Keith Timbrook, Denny Timbrook, David Timbrook and Michelle Timbrook.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV with Pastors Bob Combs and Denzil Davis officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior.  Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Augusta, WV.
