Steven "Jack" Bender, 55, of Slanesville, WV passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 15, 1968 in Winchester, VA, Jack was genuine, loyal and kind.  He was the son of the late Alvin "Ray" Bender and Gladys Bender. Jack was a graduate of Hampshire High School, Class of 1986.  Jack had a true servant's heart and was an active member of Community Fellowship Church, Points, WV.

You may have known Jack in his early years of construction work before he invested in a community he so loved, serving people through his family's businesses for 20 years; Slanesville General Store, Main Street Diner and Main Street Grill. Those who knew Jack knew he had a pair of work boots ready at any time to get the job done and those boots will be impossible to fill.

Jack is survived by his loving family: his wife of 30 years, Angela Y. Bender, children, Lindsey Taylor (Andrew), Chandler Bender, Trinity Bender, all of Slanesville, WV, his grandchildren, Bella and Mykah Taylor, his mother, Gladys Bender, sister, Cathy Baker (Roger), best friend and business partner, his brother-in-law, Matt (Jodi), his in-laws, Wayne and Bonnie Stotler, brother-in-laws, Matt (Jodi), Andy (Mandy), Levi (Darr), sister-in-law, Nicole (Brent) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin "Ray" Bender.

We can only hope you had the opportunity to know the Jack we knew.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 5, 2023, 3-8pm, at Community Fellowship Church, Points, WV.  Per the family's request, funeral services will be private.
