Stella Irene Dawson, 80, of Springfield, WV passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at WVU Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, WV surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Born on February 13, 1945 in Springfield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Eston W. Iman and Eleanor V. Coleman.

Stella was a member of the Springfield Rescue Squad and the Ruritan where she was well known for helping with the meals and Springfield United Methodist Church.   She was a talented seamstress and cake decorator and always busy gardening, canning and cooking.  Her greatest joy in life was her family and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Dawson and a daughter, Shelby Irene Dawson.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Dawson (Dawn), Susan Horn (William "Bubby"), and Jenny Messick (Tom), all of Springfield, WV, 6 grandchildren: Contessia, Stephanie, Brandon, Emily, Austin and Bristal, 2 great-grandchildren, her siblings, Willard Iman of Texas, Pat Iman of Romney, WV, Delanor Iman of Springfield, WV, Paul Iman of Springfield, WV and a special, compassionate friend, Edie Beard.

A private funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at McKee Funeral Home Romney WV at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Gary Ehlert officiating.  Interment was in Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, WV.

All arrangements were handled by McKee Funeral Home, Romney, WV.
