Obituary

Sandra Lee Timbrook, 77, of Delray, WV passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Sentara of Virginia, Virginia Beach, VA.

Born on October 23, 1947 in Winchester, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. "Chuck" Loy and Freda E. Frye.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Timbrook on October 31, 2000 and a sister, Sherry Diane.

She is survived by her daughter, Cassandra L. Flanagan (Bryan) of Delray, WV, a granddaughter, Catelynn A. Flanagan, step-grandchildren, Travis Flanagan (Lyndsay), Katelyn Townsend (Seth), great-grandchildren, Brooks Dwain, Micah, Meela Mae, a special cousin who was more like a sister, Brenda Pyles, godsons, Travis and Troy Pyles, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She is also survived by a special "daughter", Becky Lane and family members, Bo and Lisa Feathers.

Sandra was very community minded and was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, a 4-H All Star, President of the Rio Cemetery, a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 1101, where she currently was serving as President of the Ladys Auxiliary.  She was a Hampshire Co. FFA Alumni member, served on the Hampshire Co. Fair Board, and was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Rio, WV.  A lifetime member of the Ruritan in the Slanesville and North River Clubs, she was currently serving as secretary of the North River Ruritan and had received the Tom Downing award and was 2023 Upper WV District Governor of Ruritan.  Sandra had retired after 50 years of service for the federal government and owned and operated North River Farm.  She loved her family, her community and dirt racing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rio Cemetery, c/o Warren Hoke, 252 Miller St Winchester, VA 22601 or the Ruritan National Foundation, PO Box 487, Dublin VA 24084.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV with Pastor Robert Jeffreys and Donna Saville-Burgan officiating.  Interment will be in Rio Cemetery, Rio, WV.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, 5-7pm, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
