Roy Smith, Jr., 87, of Shanks, WV passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the home of his son in Romney, WV.

Born on July 20, 1939 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Roy Smith, Sr. and Susan (Ennis) Smith.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Zimmerman.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Marcionette) Smith, his children, Michael Smith (Jennifer) of Romney, WV, Deborah Goff of Jefferson, MD, Fred Smith (Sumalee) of Romney, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Peggy Jones of Leesburg, Va.

Roy had worked at Abex for 27 years. He enjoyed mechanical work, mowing grass, and spending time with his grandchildren who he was so proud of.

Services will be private and handled by McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV.
