Ralph Carson Heishman, 91, of Baker, WV passed away on Thursday March 4, 2021 at the home of Michael and Karen Strawderman in Lost River, WV.
Born on February 26, 1930 in Baker, WV, he was the son of the late Carson and Minnie (Jenkins) Heishman.
Following graduation Ralph enlisted in serving our country in the U.S. Navy for 20 plus years from 1951 -1971. During his tenor, he proudly served on the USS Kitty Hawk as an E7 Chief Petty Officer. He also served as an instructor officer at Newport, Rhode Island. During his career with the Navy, he was awarded several medals. Following his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Baker to support his family.
Ralph's hobbies included gardening, hunting, nature, and spending time with Ellie Mae. He enjoyed his morning ritual of having coffee with his friends and solving the world's problems. He loved his country, family, friends, and was a true patriot. He enjoyed attending Lost River United Methodist Church and most of all, he loved his Lord.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Mathias, a brother, James Heishman, and his longtime partner, Bertie Branson.
He is survived by his family: Mike and Karen Strawderman, Ashley and Spencer Coby, Rick and Sherry Branson and family, Maria Douthilt and girls, several nieces, a special caregiver, Carol Miller and fur babies, Ellie Mae and Trooper.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 6, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Baker, WV with Pastor Debbie Shreve officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery Lost River, WV.
The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV.
