Paul Thomas McDonald, 78, of Shanks, WV passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Born on January 7, 1947 in Shanks, WV, he was the son of the late Jarrett Lupton McDonald and H. Pauline (Haines) McDonald Powell.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry McDonald.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen A. (Davy) McDonald, his children, Cindy Combs (Chad), Suzy Nichols (Colby), and Clinton P. McDonald, all of Augusta, WV, his 5 grandchildren: Brooke O'Connell, Chayson Combs, Canyon Nichols, Maysa Nichols and Zeke McDonald and one great-grandson, Jeremiah Thomas Moats.  He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Loy of Shanks, WV and Connie Gross of Romney, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was a graduate of Hampshire High, Class of 1965.  He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.  In his early years, he worked cutting and hauling pulpwood and later worked in carpentry.  He enjoyed working on clocks. Paul was a family man and his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.  He could often be found in the kitchen helping his wife cook dinner. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him for his gentle spirit and sense of humor.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, WV with Pastor David Bradfield officiating.  Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney WV. Military rites will be accorded by the U.S. Army.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, 4-7pm, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
