Mildred May
Ginevan
Aug 13, 1936 — Apr 7, 2020
Myersville
Mildred May Ginevan, 83, of Myersville, Maryland went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland.
Born August 13, 1936 in Kings Lynn, England, she was the daughter of the late Gladys Victoria and Frederick Burke Backham. Mildred met the love of her life, the late Omar Lee Ginevan, during the Korean War. The two were married on December 6, 1952.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Omar Lee Ginevan, her son Dail Franklin Lee Ginevan, her parents Gladys and Frederick Backham, her grandson Henry Lee Peters, sisters Gwen Price (Dennis) and Dora Godridge (Irvin), and brothers Frederick Backham (Colleen), and Gordon Backham (Edna).
Mildred is survived by her brother Ray Backham (Eileen); 3 children, Deborah Herron (Gerald), Lt. Col. Mark Ginevan (Laura), and Wayne Ginevan; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren; and an abundance of nieces and nephews, both here in the U.S. and across the pond.
Mildred, Nannie to most of us, will be remembered for her beautiful flower beds, her love of baking, and her lifetime friendships with the ladies of The British Bells, but most importantly for her love for her family. She was a kind, strong, generous, and loving woman who set an example that will live on in all of us who were blessed to know her.
In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, services will be held at a later time.
All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV.
