Maxwell Richard
Weese
Sep 3, 1959 — Feb 12, 2026
Springfield
Maxwell Richard Weese, age 66, passed away peacefully at his home in Springfield, WV, on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Born on September 3, 1959, in New York, NY, he was the son of Maxwell L. Weese and the late Carmen Weese (Reyes).
Maxwell was a proud veteran who served as a medic in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he trained to become a Physician Assistant (PA) and had a successful career caring for patients.
Known for his loyalty, quick humor, and open heart, Maxwell had a special gift for making people feel welcome and truly seen. He brought his imagination and creativity to life through his passion for model trains, creating large, intricate train boards that delighted all who saw them. He loved Westerns, traveling with his wife, Lorraine, in their camper, and spending time in the Green Ridge Mountains, where he cherished trips as a child and later with his own kids. Maxwell often said that of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of being a father to his six children.
Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Weese. Maxwell is survived by his wife, Lorraine M. (Smith) Weese of Springfield, WV, and his children: Rebecca Keller of York, PA; Richard Weese of New Freedom, PA; Eva Weese of Aberdeen, MD; Caitlin Lacy of Frederick, MD; Maggie Weese of Somerville, MA; and Maxwell J. Weese of Havre de Grace, MD. He will be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
He is also survived by his father, Maxwell L. Weese, and stepmother, Frances Weese of Springfield, WV; his sister, Donna Widener of Shrewsbury, PA; and his brother, Walter Weese of Paw Paw, WV. Maxwell is further survived by his former wife, Beate Schaeffer of Germany, mother of Rebecca, Richard, and Eva, and his former wife, Coleen Baird of Havre de Grace, MD, mother of Caitlin, Maggie, and Maxwell.
Services will be private and handled by McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV.
