Mattie Virginia Tusing, 89, of RockOak, WV passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2020 at Piedmont Hospice of the Panhandle, Charlottesville, VA.

Born on May 23, 1931 in Wardensville, WV, she was the daughter of Walter H. Webster and Elizabeth M. Webster. Her parents and family lived in Wardensville, WV until 1943 when they moved to RockOak, WV (now Needmore Road). She attended Moorefield High School and in 1949 she was chosen MHS Homecoming Queen. On June 30, 1949, Mattie married Courtney R. Tusing with their wedding ceremony held in her parent's home on RockOak Road. They welcomed their first child, Cynthia Yvonne Tusing, to their family on December 12, 1950. When Courtney accepted a position as Cashier at Capon Valley Bank in 1953, they moved to Wardensville and bought their first home. They welcomed their second child, George Marshall Tusing 11, on October 12, 1953. While in Wardensville, Mattie worked as secretary for Dr. Riley. In 1962, Mattie, Courtney and the family moved to Charles Town, WV. While living in Charles Town, Mattie worked as secretary for Dr. Allara. In February 1966, Mattie and Courtney and family moved to Oakland, MD where they lived for eighteen years. They were members of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where Mattie worked as church secretary. In 1987, Mattie and Courtney retired and moved back home to RockOak, WV; and built their retirement home, where they have since lived. They were members of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Rio, WV where Mattie was a faithful church volunteer.

Mattie is survived by her two children, Cynthia (married to Charles Pike) and George (married to Diane Kratz); five grandchildren (Jennifer, Suzy, and Todd Pike; Jessica and Megan Tusing), and five great-grandchildren. Mattie had five siblings: Polly Tusing (RockOak), Buddy Webster (Falls Church) and Peggy Riggleman (Moorefield), Charles Webster (RockOak-deceased) and Judy Armstrong ( Elkins-deceased).

Mattie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

All services were private and handled by McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV.
