Lako Dove, 73, of Lost City, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2026, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on August 19, 1952, in Camp Lejeune, NC, he was the son of the late Lako Glen Dove and Shirley Gay Ayers.

Lako was a devoted husband and father. He was a dedicated truck driver, supervisor, and beloved member of his community. He had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending countless early mornings and quiet evenings outdoors doing what brought him the most peace.

He also had a lifelong passion for sports. Lako enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, and football. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and rarely missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams. He especially loved watching the East Hardy Athletics. In his early adult years, he enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball. His competitive spirit, sense of humor, and love of the game made him a joy to be around.

Lako dedicated 28 years of service as a supervisor at Rocco Farm Foods, where he was respected for his leadership, strong work ethic, and commitment to those he worked alongside. He later joined his two sons as a truck driver for McKee Foods, delivering Little Debbie snack cakes to make the world smile, taking pride in his work and the many miles he traveled. Throughout his career, he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of his coworkers.

He never met a stranger and truly loved talking to everyone. Whether it was a quick chat at the store or a visit with friends, he enjoyed connecting with people and sharing stories.

Above all, Lako loved his family deeply. He treasured time spent with them, supported them wholeheartedly, and found his greatest happiness in being surrounded by the people he loved most.

Lako was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Holly Dove, the love of his life. He loved Holly deeply and carried that love with him every day. Even after her passing, he continued to honor her memory.

He is survived by his children: Joe (Pam) Dove, Rodney (Heather) Dove, Stephanie (Ralph Jr.) Greenwalt, Ashley (Nathan) Delawder, Katie (Hunter) Reedy, and Laura (Michael) Miller; his cherished grandchildren: Emily (Tommie) McCausley, Kyle Dove, Shana Dove, Makayla Dove, Aubrey Delawder, Tatum Reedy, Madi Delawder, Riley Miller, and Landon Delawder; his great-granddaughter, Ellie McCausley; and his step-great-grandson, Jacob McCausley. He is also survived by his siblings, Doug, Clay, and Greg Dove. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Stacy, Terry, and Bambi.

He leaves behind countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, laughter, love for the outdoors and sports, gift of conversation, and deep devotion to his family will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV with Arlene Mongold and Randy Whetzel officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, 6-8pm, at the funeral home.  A private interment will be held at the Dove Family Cemetery.
