June O. Halterman, 97, of Lost City, WV fell asleep in death on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at E.A. Hawse Healthcare Center, Baker, WV; a resident since January 2024.  She found great delight in living a long, healthy and mobile life until December 2023.

Born on September 14, 1926 in Criders, VA, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Dove and Roxie (Smith) (Dove) Halterman.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Halterman on October 21, 1978, her first-born infant son, Roger, and her younger siblings, Theodore Dove, Wade Dove, and Shirley Ayers.

She is survived by her children, Merlin "Jim" Halterman (Willadean) of Woodstock, VA, Berlin "Tiney" Halterman of Lost City, WV, Frances Teets (Rodney "Leon") of Mathias, WV, and Candy Stevenson (Steve) of Lost City, WV.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Josh Stevenson (Lisa) of Boyce, VA, Ashley Taylor (Justin) of Mathias, WV, and her great-grandchildren, River and Harley Stevenson of Boyce, VA.

She became a member of the Wardensville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1977 and found great joy in her ministry work. She especially loved sharing Psalm 83:18 and Psalm 37:10, 11, 29 (a wonderful promise and her hope) with others.

In addition to caring for her family, June had an immense love for the outdoors, gardening (canning and feeding anyone that pulled a chair up to her kitchen table), working in her flower beds, mushroom hunting, and watching "her" hummingbirds return year after year. In her older years, she had the opportunity to travel. That brought her much joy, especially when traveling by airplane.

June was affectionately known and called "Granny" by many who loved her, but she especially wore that title with pride from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial service, conducted by Josh Stevenson will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Baker, WV.  Any who are unable to attend in person are welcome to join through Zoom. (Zoom meeting ID: 999 5446 7969, Passcode: 093388)
