Obituary

John Deere Sager, 77, of Rio, WV passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the home of his daughter, Carisa Bradley in Bedford, VA.


Born on December 17, 1942 in Lost River, WV, he was the son of the late Noah Russell Sager and Evelyn Louise (Welch) Sager.


John worked as a bus driver for Hardy County Schools and in farming. He was an Army veteran and a former member of the North River Vol. Fire Department, Rio, WV. He cut and hauled pulpwood for many years.


Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Sager.


Surviving are two daughters, Carisa (Timothy) Bradley of Bedford, VA., Miranda (Michael) Markas of Ellicott City, MD, a sister, Reta (Jay) Fansler of Mathias, WV, four grandchildren, Justin & Joselyn Markas, Aaron & Casondra Minifield, an aunt, Hilda Arnud of Harrisonburg, VA, and several nephew and nieces.


Graveside services will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Sperry's Run Cemetery, Baker, WV with Pastor Cheryl George officiating.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Sperry's Run United Methodist Church 3056 Sperry's Run Rd. Rio, WV 26755.


All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV.
