John Gilbert Lorenz, 91, of Mathias, WV, formerly of Cameron, WV, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Born on December 26, 1932 in Cameron, WV, he was the son of the late Charles Gilbert Lorenz and Virginia L. (Smitley) Lorenz.

John was a graduate of Cameron High School, Class of 1950.  He was a Journeyman Pipeliner and a member of the 798 Pipeliner Union for 58 years.  He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Cameron, WV.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Addie L. (Teets) Lorenz in 2012 and a brother, Charles Lorenz.

A beloved father and grandfather, he is survived by his children, Bonnie Lou Moton (Thomas) of Baker, WV, Virginia Mary "Jenny" Williams (Mark) of Stephens City, VA, Loretta J. "Jeanie" August (Samuel) of Virginia Beach, VA, Johnetta L. Lorenz-Shields (Mark Shields) of Graysville, PA, and 8 grandchildren: John Moton, Cassandra Williams, Kali Williams, Dillon Lorenz Shields, Jordan August, Michaela August, Kaden Lorenz Shields, and Logan Lorenz Shields.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV with Pastor Dean Williams officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior.  Interment will be in Mathias Mennonite Cemetery, Mathias, WV.  Military rites will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force.
