JoAnn Marie "Peachie" Whitacre, 76, of Paw Paw, WV passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at her residence.

Born on April 8, 1947 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Edward Kerns and Hazel Marie (Yost) Kerns.

JoAnn had worked at VDO in Winchester, VA.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed cooking.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Whitacre, 3 brothers, Eugene, Butch and Gregory Kerns and a step-son, Mike Whitacre.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Shade, her sons, Gary Kerns of Berkley Springs, WV, Brian Kerns of Winchester, VA, step-children, Steven Shade, Amy Marie Moore (Nick), of Great Cacapon, WV, Debbie Ivy (Ray), Tony Kenny (Fred) and David Whitacre, all of Texas, a sister, Patricia Brelsford of Stephens City, VA, 2 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 16 step great-grandchildren, and 2 step great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Woodrow Union Church, Paw Paw, WV with Rev. Earl Travis officiating.  Interment will be in Woodrow Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
