James William Marple, 68, of Shanks, WV passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Winchester, VA.

Born on January 9, 1958 in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late James A. Marple and Carol V. (Blackburn) Bean.

James worked at American Woodmark in Moorefield.  An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish and go camping.  Above all though, he prioritized his family.  His children and grandchildren were his greatest accomplishments in life. James never met a stranger and will be remembered by all who knew him for his genuine spirit and willingness to lend a hand.

He is survived by children, James Marple (Becky) of Center Point, WV, Ashley Marple of Moorefield, WV, Joshua Marple of Shanks, WV, Kiley Marple of Shanks, his brothers, David Marple of Moorefield, WV, Donnie Marple (Tiny) of Augusta, WV, Terry Marple (Angela) of Shanks, WV, and 5 grandchildren: Gunnar, Nikolas, Caitlin, Zackary and Zaiden.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, WV with Pastor Robert Jeffreys officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior.
