James Alvin Collins, 73, of Augusta, WV passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

Born on December 3, 1950 in Hancock Co. Tennessee, he was the son of the late Walter Collins and Myrtle M. (Kinder) Collins.

As a child he moved to Maryland with his family. Later he began his career as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver and met Delores, his beloved wife of 51 years. They eventually built a small homestead in West Virginia, the place they call home.

James loved nature, camping, farming and driving big rigs but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Delores, his sister Evelyn Burkhardt of Virginia, sons James Jr. and Kevin, four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone who has been a part of his life including the Hospice of the Panhandle, nurses and first responders who provided peace, comfort and assistance through the very end.
