Iona Maxine Heare, 98, of Romney, WV passed away on Friday, January 18, 2024 at Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney, WV.

Born on April 3, 1925 in Romney, WV, she was the daughter of the late Paul B. Hamilton and Orpha L. (Powell) Hamilton.

Iona enjoyed her flowers and watching the birds.  In her younger years, she did beautiful crochet work and enjoyed traveling.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Heare and 2 brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Mayhew of Romney, WV, a son, Robert P. Heare of Richmond, VA, and grandchildren: Breanne Hicks (Justin), Kyle Heare (Megan), Andrew Heare (Brittany), 5 great-grandchildren and special friends and care-givers, Shelley, David and Carolyn.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at McKee Funeral Home Chapel, 115 E. Birch Lane, Romney, WV with Pastor Justin Hicks officiating.  Interment will be in Branch Mt. Cemetery, Three Churches, WV.  The family will receive friends one hour prior.
