Ida M. Wilson, 94, of Mathias, WV passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Life Care Center, New Market, VA.

Born on October 3, 1929 in Mathias, WV, she was the daughter of the late Russell Vance and Gerdie (Funkhouser) Vance.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lillard C. Wilson on July 27, 2009, brothers, Garland, Allen, Lawrence, Delbert and Glen, a sister, Olive Gennoy, and 3 grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Warren W. Wilson of Woodstock, VA and Linda Frank (Lester) of Mathias, WV, Larry Wilson of Mathias, WV, a sister, Elnora Whetzel of Mathias, WV, 5 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Her lifetime employment consisted of raising chickens, working as a cook at Green Valley Farms and Lost River State Park Restaurant, and working at the Timberville Cannery.

She had many in-home caregivers later in life that allowed her to remain in her home. Many of them became forever friends.

After she suffered a severe stroke in December 2023, she became a resident at Life Care Nursing Home in New Market, VA. Despite the effects of the stroke she was determined to be as independent as possible in performing some of her personal tasks. She transitioned well and the nursing staff and caregivers brightened her days by their friendship and many acts of kindness.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. View Cemetery, Lost City, WV.

Friends will be received on Sunday, after 1pm at McKee Funeral Home, Baker WV and on Monday, 10am-1pm at the funeral home.
