Helen Lorraine Riggleman, 89, passed away in her sleep on May 1, 2020 in Williamsburg, VA. Helen was born and raised in Hardy County but lived the majority of her life in Hampshire County. She started work when her children went to school at the Miller Orchard then the Kinney Shoe Factory until it closed. Her husband, Dick, also known as Pappap, talked her into retiring after she worked several years at a sewing factory. Helen wants to be remembered for her delicious country cooking and baking particulartly for her potato salad, butterscotch pudding, coconut pies and fresh squeezed lemonade. She was always smiling and laughing and ready to help anyone in need. She was proud of her West Virginia heritage and loved to talk about it after she moved to Williamsburg, VA, five years ago.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Dick; her 3 daughters, Pattie, Sherry and Lorraine; her son-in-law, Carroll; and all her siblings, Louise, Don and Bob.
Helen is survived by her son, Richard (Patricia); six grandchildren, Andrew, Michele (Ricky), Stacey, Mark, John, Rebecca (Nick); three great-grandchildren, Brandan, Zachary, Naya Grace; four sisters-in-law, Mary Lou, Helen, Joan and Marilyn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private graveside service will be held. A celebration of Helen's life will be at a later date. I n lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be in the form of a donation to your favorite charity or someone in need.
All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV.
