George Jesse McClure, 74, of Mathias, WV passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville, VA.

Born on Sept. 22, 1946 in Cheverly, MD, he was the son of the late Edward J. McClure and Mary L. McGaha McClure.

He received the Purple Heart for his service as a Marine in Vietnam.  He enjoyed shooting pool, playing darts, target shooting, playing poker and cutting wood.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dudley McClure and Richard McClure and a grandson, Quenten J. Strawderman.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Rebecca McClure, Heather McClure, both of Mathias, WV, Connie McClure of Mt. Airy, MD; 4 grandchildren: Jesse Strawderman, Daniel Strawderman, Brandon McClure, Josh Proctor; 3 sisters, Ethel Leslie of Port Charlotte, FL, Emma Proctor of Glen Burnie, MD, Myra Harmon of Woodbridge, VA, 2 brothers, Edward "Eddie" McClure of PA, John Robert McClure of VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 3:00 PM at McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Baker, WV.  Military rites will be accorded by the US Marines.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 on Sunday at the funeral home.
