Freida P. Whetzel, 97, of Mathias, WV passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at E.A. Hawse Health Center, Baker, WV.

Born on March 13, 1927 in Mathias, WV, she was the daughter of the late Perry L. Dove and Florence (Lowry) Dove.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Whetzel, son Michael Whetzel, son-in-law, Gary Lee Shipe and her grandson, Gary DeWayne Shipe. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving is her son, Malcolm Whetzel (Sheila Hupp) of Mathias, WV, daughter, Kay Shipe Hoover (Don) of Baker, WV, granddaughter, Elizabeth K. Seigler (Wes) of Virginia Beach, VA, and great-granddaughter, Natalie Shipe (Jessica, mother) of Amherst, VA.

At her request, her body will be cremated and there will be no service.

All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV.
