Estel Wayne Henderson (Wayne), a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on March 22, 2025 at his home in Romney, West Virginia.

Wayne was born in 1943 and raised in Bloomfield, Indiana by his parents Harry and Audrey.  He joined the Army in 1960 and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany where he met his love, Irmgard, who he married and returned to the United States and resided in Alexandria, Virginia.  He moved the family to Sterling, Virginia in 1977 until moving to Romney, West Virginia in 2020.

He was a true Mr. Fix it who could fix almost anything with a motor and more.  He excelled as a professional mechanic repairing anything from diesel big rigs, refrigeration trucks to service trucks. He worked most of his career at Hertz in Alexandria before transferring to FedEx in Leesburg, Virginia. He retired but never retired from working on family, friends and his own vehicles even at the age of 81.  His passions were motorcycles and cars.  He enjoyed watching NASCAR, Lemans, Grand Prix, and motorcycle races, and a variety of auto shows.  He was a Washington Redskins fan and watched all the games.

Wayne is survived by his children, Diana and Clint, grandchildren Joseph, Olivia and step-grandchild Zoe and great grandchildren Damien and Jaxson, Stepson Uwe and step-grandchildren Felicia, Cindy, Uwe, Jr., and many step-great-grandchildren, and siblings Frank and Ruth. Wayne is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irmgard (Irmi), parents Harry and Audrey, siblings Barbara, Robert, Paul, Jerry and David.

Wayne will be dearly missed and always loved by family and friends.
