On April 16, 2024, Donald Gerard Evans, 69, of Moorefield, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and pastor, entered the presence of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Don was born on September 5, 1954, in Moorefield, WV to Aubrey "Gene" and Mabel (Ours) Evans. He graduated from Moorefield High School in 1972. Don married Susan Crider, the love of his life, on June 29, 1974. They spent the first year of their married life working together at the Teen Challenge Center in Philadelphia, PA. In 1985, Don and Susan began their ministry at Wardensville Assembly of God Church and ministered there together for almost 40 years, touching countless lives.
Don, known as "Granddaddy," was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved to spend time with his family and had no greater joy than seeing his family serving the Lord. His legacy is his unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that he believed, lived and instilled in them.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Aubrey "Gene" and Mabel Evans, and brothers Larry Ours and Robert Evans.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Susan (Crider) Evans; four children: Rachel Schetrom (Steven), Donald H. Evans (Heather), Rebekah McCullough (Michael) and David Evans; grandchildren: Cole Swanson, Elijah Schetrom, Silas Schetrom, Aubrey McCullough, Aisiah Evans, Eira Evans, and Julissa Evans, brothers, Dennis (Lori) Evans of Moorefield, WV, Stan Evans of Florida and Doug (Sandy) Evans of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews .
A Celebration of Don's life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Wardensville Assembly of God Church with Pastor Steven Schetrom and Brother Chris Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in the Asbury Cemetery, Baker, WV. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wardensville Assembly of God Church on Friday, April 19, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wardensville Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 273, Wardensville, WV 26851.
All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV.
