Chuck Allen Smoot, 67, of Kirby, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on August 7, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those closest to him.

Chuck was born on April 28, 1959 in Gauley Bridge, WV to the late Jesse Kilton Smoot and Janette Sue Harrison. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Chuck was a man who lived life in his own way and found happiness in the things he loved most. He had a deep passion for riding horses and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Whether he was on horseback or riding his Harley with the open road ahead of him, Chuck appreciated the freedom, adventure, and simple joys that life had to offer.

Above all, Chuck was a family man. For 30 years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Kathy Smoot, building a lifetime of memories together. His family was his greatest legacy, and he will be remembered not only as a husband, father, and grandfather, but as someone whose presence became an important part of the lives of so many who loved him.

Chuck leaves behind his wife, Kathy Smoot; his two sisters, Vanessa Racey and Jessica Billmeyer; his daughter, Yana Smith and her husband Billy of Slanesville; his son, Jesse Smoot and his wife Autumn of Rio; his daughter, Cecily Davy and her husband Dean of Purgitsville; his son, Josh Smoot and his wife Kayla of Kirby and daughter, Rachelle Jones of Michigan and her 4 children. He is also survived by his extended family members, Danny Conway and his wife Stacey, Danny Mizer and his wife Missy, friends, Barry and Betty Jo Seizmore, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was a proud grandfather to Hanna Burgess, Katlelynn Blankenship, Lucas Davy, Jaden Smoot, Alexis Lambert, Keirston Blankenship, Nevaeh Smoot, and Colton Smoot, and a loving great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Kilton Smoot and Janette Sue Harrison; his brother, Gary Garten; and his brother-in-law, Stephen Billmeyer.

Though Chuck is no longer here, the memories he created will remain with the people who loved him. His family will carry those memories forward—the sound of his laughter, the stories shared, the time spent together, and the things that made Chuck uniquely Chuck.

He will also be deeply missed by his best friend and loyal companion, his beloved dog, Zoey, who was always by his side.

He leaves behind a family who will miss him deeply, but who can take comfort in knowing that his life was filled with love, family, friendship, horses, motorcycles, and countless memories that will never be forgotten.

Ride easy, Chuck. Your journey here is finished, but your memory will ride on in the hearts of all who loved you.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. at the Wolford Family Farm, Jersey Mt. Road, Romney, WV.
