Catherine Elaine (Moyer) Smith, 86, of Baker, WV peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Shenandoah Center, Charles Town, WV with Cati and Kyle by her side.

Born on May 13, 1937 on Crab Run, Mathias, WV, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Pearl Lee (See) Moyer.

Catherine was Salutatorian of her Mathias High School Class, a hairdresser and the librarian of the Baker Branch of the Hardy County Public Library until its closing. She was Treasurer of the Arkansaw CEOS Club for many years, a member of the Arkansaw Community Association and the Zion Lutheran Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gladstone E. "Bud" Smith, four brothers, three sisters, and a grandson, Derrick Smith.

Surviving are three children: Bonnie Miller (Cletus), Randy Smith (Denece), all of Baker, WV, Keith Smith (Glenda) of Moorefield, WV; nine grandchildren: Chris Miller (Kim), Michelle Morgan (Thad), Eric Miller, Elisha Pepperman (Dexter), Jacob Smith, Ben Smith, Catherine Smith Andrews ( Kyle), Anna Smith, Rebekah Smith; eight great-grandchildren: Brennen and Brooklyn Miller, Gabby and Kiptyn Miller, Kylie and Kasen Pepperman, Aden and Briell Smith, a sister, Loretta Keplinger, a sister-in-law, Sharon Moyer and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Baker, WV with Pastors Gary Koontz and Aaron Himes officiating.  Interment will be in Zion Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, 6-8 PM, at McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV.
