Edward Lyle Kidwell, age 89, of Romney, WV passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family while under the care of Hospice.
Born on February 8, 1922 in Higginsville, WV, he was the son of the late H.W. “Billy” and Zelda (Bloom) Kidwell.
He worked and retired from the CSX railroad and was a farmer. He was a veteran of WW11, a member of the V.F.W. Post 1101, American Legion Post 91, both of Romney, WV and a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Points, WV. He received the 35th Star Award in 2010 given by Governor Joe Manchin.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Xyla Lewis.
Surviving is his wife, Leona (Sowers) Kidwell, whom he married on December 29, 1951. Also surviving is three sons: Bob Kidwell of Romney, WV, Eddy Kidwell and wife Marcelle, of Points, WV, David Kidwell of Points, WV; a brother: Sartell Kidwell of Romney, WV; four grandchildren: Amanda Stotler and husband Andy, Travis Kidwell, Jamy Kidwell Taylor Kidwell, and a great-grandchild, Haylee Stotler.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, WV with Rev. Dr. Roy Knight officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery Points, WV.
The family will receive friends on Friday, 2:00- 4:00 P.M. & 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
