Rev. Woodrow I. Brown
Rev. Woodrow I. Brown, 88, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2006 at his home in Dunnsville.
He was born on October 2, 1918 in Peebles,
Ohio .
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alma Louise and six children, Ralph G. Brown and wife Penny of Clatskanic, Oregon, Anita Harrower and husband Gordon of Dunnsville, VA, Mary Thurber and husband James of Richmond, VA, Lois Anderson and husband Robert of Pleasanton, CA, David C. Brown and wife Chris of Winchester, VA and Becky Stivers and husband Mike of Fairmont, VA; twenty grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Rev. Brown attended Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio, graduated from Practical Bible School (now Davis College) in Johnson City, New York, earned a Master’s and a Doctorate in Christian Education from Antietam Bible Seminary in Hagerstown, MD He taught at Davis College for 15 years and served as Pastor for several churches in New York, California and west Virginia, then went back to the classroom at Antietam Bible College for 12 years teaching on campus classes as well as a satellite class in the Tearcoat Church of the Brethren in Augusta, WV. Author of “Father’s Faith” he has given over 60 years to the Lord’s work as pastor and teacher. He wrote tow years ago “ If I fall asleep before the Rapture, I want the undertaker to put a smile on my face, and I want these words put on my tombstone, Shhhh, I’m listening for Michael’s trumpet.”
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 19, 2006 from 2to 4 and 7to 9 at McKee Funeral Home, in Augusta ,
WV.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Tearcoat Church of the Brethren in
Augusta , WV at 11:00 A.M.
Interment will be in the
Tearcoat Cemetery Augusta , WV
